The Lebanese Life

I try to understand what is going around but it’s hard since I belong to one of the most complicated societies in the world….the society of contradictions and lies. We’re chained with traditions and morals in what we do and flying like free birds in what we actually want. We’re lost in between two worlds that made us the masters of pretending. We all pretend to be the people who respect those rules that we all keep on breaking in our heads and some go far by breaking them in reality. We’re the masters of judging… we judge others and never forgive them for mistakes we commit but we’re smarter and we hide them better. We keep lying at ourselves and others about the life we’re living we pretend to be happy while deep inside lay the sadness and the fury…. Why shouldn’t we be sad? Why shouldn’t we be furious? We live in a country full of lies and deception in every part of life: economical, political and social. We all lie how we proud to be Lebanese from different religions living all together in peace….this is the biggest lie, bigger than Lebanon itself… hatred unites us and nothing else. We pretend to respect others and their belief but can’t accept them in our life….how is that possible? If we can respect the other, why can’t we accept him/her as a part of our life? We’re becoming more robots less human beings… we were born to be controlled by stupid politicians…..

We listen and never question… we blind ourselves…we ignore the truth for the sake of stupid ideologies that in fact we don’t understand but we do what we’ve been told to do. We’re becoming just numbers in a country dominated by numbers and dates 8 and 14, April 23, may 7 etc… We’re numbers in statistics about politics and even art…. Hundreds of Lebanese attended a concert of an international DJ…. (I bet 80% of them can’t even pronounce his name or have ever before listened to his music before) we listen to music that we don’t like just for the sake of popularity and to be considered trendy or (al ma mode)…. We lie to ourselves and to others about what we truly like…. Our outfits always look like a magazine cover…but do we ever ask ourselves if we’re really comfortable in what we’re wearing? Most of our activities are what others like to do and not we like. We lost our ability to express our opinion we oppress our feelings and ideas we simply oppress ourselves. And we ask ourselves why the fury and sadness?? Well this is because of the big lie and the oppression we’re living in or in a better way: the Lebanese life….
